Israel Joffe volunteered with the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department on Long Island. The photograph below is the company, lined up in front of the engine.
Away from the firehouse he spent his career in public service, at the FDIC and then at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, and collected the certifications that go with the work: PMP, and later PMI-CPMAI.
On the mat he has spent two decades in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and holds a second-degree black belt under Matt Serra.
The wrestling came through Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn, where Johnny Rodz has taught for decades. Israel trained there with the WUW crew, and he has been in Johnny's corner since.
