Johnny Rodz has had a lot of people in his corner. Israel Joffe is one of them.
Israel isn’t a wrestler. He’s a cornerman, a photographer, and the man who helped build this site with Juanito.
Away from the ring, Israel spent his career in public service, at the FDIC and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, and volunteered as a firefighter with the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department on Long Island. He has spent two decades on the mat in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
The photos below are from Johnny’s archive: the championship belt, the judo uniform, the car, the selfie, and the firefighter dress uniform.
More of Israel’s photographs are at israeljoffe.com/photos. His own writing is at israeljoffe.substack.com.
